    Shifting rod adjustment

    I have an 03 225 HO with a lighting gear case which is brand new due a friendly stump on lake Fork i have finally got through with all the insurance BS and got it painted and got the water pump installed and now i need to adjust the shifter rod I know there is a gauge u can use but is there a rule of thumb that i can go by as for as setting it within tolerance????

    this is how i did mine, screw it in [shift rod ] 4 to 6 turns and push it down as far as it will go in gear and take you a yard stick and drill you a hole centered at 21 15/16 , make the hole the same size as the shift rod bolt and use it to make it the right height , one turn the wrong way and it shows.place the yard stick on top of the gear case to measure up to the correct height for the shift rod hole and use the bolt for a guide,If I'm wrong gearcase man will tell ya more.

    I cant find specific information on the rod height for engine model the lower unit in the video and rude powers are different. the video is awesome though.

    In neutral. Top of the case not the shift rod housing.
