The weed ring installs into the gearcase, look at the "Fingers" there are two close together and two that are wider, with the prop off you will see in the gearcase that the ring will fit the bearing carrier, two supports are wide and two are thinner.
Push the ring in until it snaps in.
Is there a simple way to get a weed ring off w/o breaking it so that it can be re-used?
Mine always just pulled off. Should be made of HDPE or PP and is flexible.

Use a screw driver to open the "fingers" and it will pull out, you may need two screw drivers.
