Where is the best place to put in? I've heard as long as you stay away from harrisburg and do one of the lower dams, you are fine with a bass boat. Just north or on the MD line. Is that true?
dave
Hey Dave.... I launch up north more. There are alot of launches between Harrisburg and Laceyville. I just heard of a good place right in Kingston by the FM Kirby park. I dunno if I would take a bass boat there tho ? ? ? ?
I am building a boat just for river bassin. I would NEVER take my Bass Boat in the Susky. There are to many hidden rocks. I don't know the river well enough but there are others who know it who use their bass rigs all the time.
Sorry I could not be of more help.

I heard that many bass boats near the pa/md line at the conowingo area.
I'm trying to find a launch on the east side, in PA, that would keep me the papermill/philadelphia power.
Thanks
Dave
That may be whites ferry off of rte 92 about 4 miles below tunkhannock
YEP..... That is the place.... SH~H~H~H~H~H~H![]()

You can run bass boats in the wilkes barre area, I run mine all season, Some of the best fishing in the state. I fish about 8 miles of river out of my rig.

We launch out of Nesbitt park on the Kingston side of the river. Brand new 2 lane ramp, With the river gauge at 3 feet in Wilkes Barre you run all the way to Nanticoke. My club runs tournys there all summer on Wednesdays and every Sunday in the fall. Don't get me wrong you still need to know where you can run but once you do it's easy. I have fished it for over 10 years out of a bass boat and never had a problem. I can make it to Nanticoke with the gauge as low as 0.50. It's a little tricky then but worth it. I have my rig setup to run in 8" of water while wide open. Never believed it myself until i did it. Drop me a line in the sping, I'll show you around and how to do it.

Thats correct 8" of water. I get the same response from anyone that does'nt fish rivers. It's not for any long distance, just 100 feet pr so in spots but thats when the water is low in the summer. Most of the year the water is at least 2 feet in those areas and they are just gravel shoals really. From Wilkes barre to nanticoke there are only 3 small areas that get shallow, the rest is over 5' to 20'. We have a few guys in our club that run this with glass boats. When the gauge is at 6' you can run north to the harding area above Pittston and have no trouble. Anyone who wants to learn this stretch of river can Pm me and I would be glad to show you. In the fall we have 200+ fish days, and I'm not talking about 12" fish.
