    The Inn at Presque Isle

I just reserved 4 nights for next week at The Inn at Presque Isle. "Fisherman's Special" for $44.50 per night (including weekends) for 2 double beds. But here is the best part. They now have a dedicated boat parking lot with electric hook-up.

    Game on, El Patio.

The El Patio may be in trouble if that is the case. From what I was told by many others who stayed out there, El Patio was always cheaper and had good room for boat parking with plenty of electric outlets to plug in. Not the nicest of places, but ok for the diehard fisherman. I never stayed there, but It was my thought that the Inn was nicer, a little pricier, but had very little parking and nowhere to hook up to electric.

Re: The Inn at Presque Isle (dlewis10)

I've stayed at the El Patio several times. It has been neglected and is a dump. The clientele, except for the fishermen, leave a lot to be desired and are counterproductive to getting a decent night's sleep to hit the morning bite.

I've stayed at the Riviera Motel, just down the street. It's about $10 more than the El Patio. It is a notch or two above the El Patio, has wireless internet in the rooms closest to the office and has boat parking with electric hook-up. The problem is they only have room for about 7 or 8 boats which isn't enough in the spring.

So it will be interesting to see how the Inn at Presque Isle stacks up. I'll give a review after we return (or maybe during...I think they have wireless also).

Your evaluation of El Patio is spot on ! I look forward to your review of the Inn. I have gone to Erie twice this year (both at El Patio). This past time, I did lose some sleep to quite a bit of Bikers carrying on till 1-2 am. Let us know how your trip goes. That goes for lodging and the fishing report !!

I'm not here to say the Patio in one fine establishment BUT I feel that for what we go there for it is perfect!

Some of you need ot go to pulaski and stay in some of those places. You'll find out that the patio is a really nice place to stay!!!

Here's my take. The El Patio is a El Dumpo. But there it is a really fun place to be in May and early June. It is 95% fishermen and 50% of them have bass boats. It's like one big fish camp. There are lots of folks to swap lies with and most go to bed at a reasonable hour and if you have left the next morning at 7:00 a.m. you are last on the water.

However, in July, August and September the fishermen are in the minority and the clientele reflect the El Dumpo facilities. I'd rather be elsewhere.

I know that may not be PC but that's the El Factos.

I say to each their own. I've stayed in places that are worse. Not because I enjoy it as that is all there is. Get out and fish other places...... ON A BUDGET and see what you get...you'll find out that the Patio is a pretty good deal.

Stay where you like but i don't think things should eb said as to discourage others from going there. Teh Patio takes care of us every time we have a rally. Yes some things can be inproved but take a drive around Erie...there isn't that much that out there.

I'm by no means a hater of El Patio. I enjoyed my two stays at the Patio. Could it be better - sure. Hell we're out fishing most of the time, boat parking and hookup are great, and it's affordable. And yes, they have always catered to us for the rallys. It would be nice though to have another option - with the same catering, parking, hookup etc.. It would give some people with different viewpoints/standards a choice. I'm not in this to start a pissing match or to degrade one business from another. I go back to El Patio in a heartbeat if that is where most of the people I hook up with out there are staying. I can't complain about the company I've met this past year.

The El Patio has certainly been the source of some funny memories. For example, the first time we ever stayed there. True story. My wife calls ahead to see if they have any hair dryers. "Yes we do", came the reply, "But it has been about week since I've seen it."

I have definitely stayed at worse places..... but for the same $$$, I have stayed at better as well.......

Re: The Inn at Presque Isle (Jake Grey)

I have looked at some rooms at the INN and they are no better than the patio plus when they told me it was extra for a room with a fridge and microwave it was not a hard choice. The fridge works great to keep your beverage cold

Where did they get the room for a boat parking area as two cars cannot pass each other in there parking lot buy the office unles they started parking the boats along the main road behind the pool hidden from sight while in the motel

The patio is what it is. They treat us great and have boat hookup for about 35 boats on circut breakered plugs. There are other places right down the road with lots of boat parking. Just 165.00 a single a night and up

When you ride around Erie and see 30 boats at the patio and maybe 2 at any other motel seems to tell me fisherman do not mind to much

Re: The Inn at Presque Isle (racefan)

Their web site claims a "refrigerator and microwave in every room" and free wireless. We'll see. I check in tomorrow. At 44.50 per night through the weekend I'm not expecting much but hoping for more. I'll certainly let you guys know, one way or the other.

BTW, I noticed the El Patio's website went in the dumper too about a year ago.

The rooms I looked at were no better and no fridge. Maybe they have added a fridge since last year.

the rooms I looked at did not and I asked and was told there was a 10.00 fee for the fridge in a room. There web site does not say a fridge in every room so they must have added them. It does not matter it is not me that is staying there.

I like the place I stay much better than any of them anyways.... Kind of expensive though
