I have a 2008 Yamaha 150 V-Max HPDI (VZ150TLR - built 4/07) on a Ranger 188VX. The boat is rated for 175hp and I wanted to trade from the 150 to a 175 HPDI, but the dealer didn't have a 175 available.

Since these motors are basically the same, is there anything that can be done to increase the horsepower on the 150?

Reprogram the ECU?

Modify the air intake (maybe there is a restrictor plate in it)?
