    91 faststrike carb part #?

I just put carb kits in and noticed the float bowls are warped along with the carb bodies themselves. I looked at Evinrude.com for the carbs and the part numbers they give are not the same as the numbers stamped on mine. I looked through all the model years and can't seem to find any with the same number as mine. Mine are stamped 433646. The ones shown to fit mine are 433342. Someone may have changed the carbs out at one time but I'd kinda like to know what they came off of. And, why in the world would they put plastic carbs on anything? Don't they know that sooner than later they are going to warp? It's a little frustrating seeing that they are 250 bucks ea. Just seems like they could made them out of aluminum and been done with it. Sorry for the rant but it's fishing time not wrenching time. Oh, J150gleis. Thanks for any help.

I'd be real surprised if the carb bodies are warped unless it is where they meet the intake. Not saying it can't happen but rare. Someone really must have over torqued the heck out of them. 433646 is a decal set. 433343 is superceeded to a new number. Carb bowls are 433000 and around $18.50 each. If I needed a set of carb bodies I'd check the motor parts for sale pages below. The warpage is from over torqueing the screws and not using the correct pattern.

These were way too gone to use the sandpaper trick, but I'll tell you what I did do though. I took a bowl and layed it down on a piece of glass and put a 5lb ingot of lead on top of it. I then took a small propane torch and stood back a little bit and heated the bowl up, not enough to scorch it or anything but just warm enough for it to flatten out. I then let it cool and wallah, back flat again. I don't know if it will last or not but can't hurt to give it a try. I just won't over torque them like somebody else did. The carb body isn't warped on the back but is warped on the side where the side cover goes on. And it's only warped at the top so I'll have to figure out a way to slightly heat it up without damaging anything. If all else fails, I'll just hunt up some more carbs. I don't know what's up with that part # because the bodies are stamped 433646. Maybe that part # got changed at one time or another. One question though Championman, will I have to find some carbs like mine without the air screw or will the carbs that have the air screw work? Thanks for all your help.

Don't let the gaskets on intermediate mixing side confuse you. If the gasket between the upper an lower screws show some bending that is normal. Nope you can't mix carbs all or none. You'll have to change intakes if you do that.

Ok, thanks for the info on the carbs. Yes the gasket is kinda wavy but with it tightened down I can insert a .020 feeler gauge between the gasket and carb and even more on a couple of them.... I just bet that this is where my surging has been coming from.

What color are your intake gaskets? If they are black they should be replaced with the tan gaskets. The black ones were not alcohol friendly.

Yes they are black. I put it all back together today and took it to the lake and it runs like a champ. No missing, no surging or anything. Might be a little sluggish out of the hole compared to what it used to be but runs good nonetheless. I need to do a link and sync now and I think it will be ok. I'll just have to keep a close eye on those bowls to make sure they don't start leaking again. I'll also keep a close eye on those intake gaskets and they first hint of them leaking and I'll grab some brown ones.
