To Decarb or Not To Decarb / Oil Type

    Model: E115FPLSTB
    Serial Number: 05007476

I have no history on my (new to me) 115 Evinrude. Is there any way to tell if a Decarb procedure is in order? I have seen the link that explains how to do it, I'm just not sure IF i should do it.

Also, I plan to run XD100 or XD50, is this necessary? Suggestions here would be appreaciated as well. I've read somewhere that the FICHT can be programmed to know it is getting XD100 and thus sip, accordingly, anyone know of this?

    Thanks
    Bob

I would decarb if I did not know the history. If you can afford it run the XD100 and not worry about it in the future. If you go with the XD50 then decarb annually. The Ficht's cannot be set to the XD100 settings.

I would just do it for peace of mind and double dose the gas with sea foam.

Re: To Decarb or Not To Decarb w/WATER????

I will do the procedure for sure. I read the link listed somewhere on here awhile ago so i think i can do it. Interestingly, a friend of mine who is a fantastic car mechanic suggests spraying a light mist of water into the Air Intake to perform the decarb process. He says SeaFoam is basically H20!!! I told him there is no chance I'm spraying water in my new engine, but I would see what others thought. He says it performs better than mixed in with gas.
    Opinions???

There is no way I am going to spray water into a two stroke. Buy a can of BRP engine Tuner and perform the decarb the way it is outlined on the can, you cannot go wrong. Just do not do it on your driveway it will turn it black.

Good point. Is it okay to do it at idle speeds in driveway (w/plastic down), or should it be done at sea?
