I have an 03 Stratos and i am wanting to instal Seastar Hydraulic steering, has anyone done this and or have any tips? (I sem to remember that you have to enlarge the hole in the console to accomodate the new head)

I put one on my '92 289FS. Yes, you have to enlarge the hole in the console a little but itÂs not diffcult. I highly recommend making the change. I can now steer the boat with one finger even a WOT and there is no torque feedback at the wheel.
I did it on my 95 285 Pro XL You'll be glad you did. Like above worst part was cutti a hole. I beleive it was a 3in (not for sure) but I used a hole saw on a half in drill with a grab handle and it worked fine. Also when you pull your original cables out tape a small diameter rope to the end to pull the new ones back through. And just follow their good instructions. Even a caveman can do it![]()
