ZX 200 problems

I have just purchesd a new 09 ZX200 and it is very trim sensitive (porpoises bad). To be under 4000 rpms I have to have the motor trimmed all the way down or it will porpoise. What can I do with the jackplate to maybe fix this. Also I have been back and forth to the dealership with livewell pump problems not pumping the livewells full. Somehow is air getting in line and will not pump, but if put the boat in reverse and make water push into the lines it will start pumping. I just picked up the boat yesterday after the said they turned the pumps sideways to maybe fix this problem and they still do not work properly. I need any suggestions I can get please.

Is this your first Skeeter? You are correct, they are very trim sensitive. I usually will tell people they don't need to touch the trim switch until after they get their first 3 hours on the motor. Overtrimming and not matching speed to trim level is what causes porpoising. It happens while accelerating and you'll also see guys do it when they set the boat down off plane. They let out of the gas but don't trim down. The boat will bounce as they set it down.

If you haven't had a Skeeter before get some seat time in it before you start messing with the setback plate. Break in is a great thing for a new boat owner as it will show you how the boat handles at all speeds.

I see many guys with little Skeeter experience changing the setback plate and also messing with the trailer bowstop. Those are the 2 biggest areas I see problems with for new owners.

Yeah my first skeeter always ran a champion. I admit this is a totally different hull I just need to get use to it. Any idea on the livewell pumps?

It's probably the pumps. I'm reading about alot of problems with pumps lately and it's happening with most boat brands. I'm not sure what's up with the companies making them but they seem to be having a string of bad luck.

You've got a great performing boat and it does run a little different than your Champ did.

My boat also porposes when its not trimmed properly for the speed I am running, trimming down is the solution. Sounds like this is a characteristic of a Skeeter.

I would second that,
My tzx200 is also trim sensitive especially if I trim up too fast. A gradual increase in trim while I accelerate ensures a smooth ride. To correct I will give it more throttle and lower the trim until the boat stabilizes.
