    2000 175 Johnson Bogging

MY 175 is bogging out of the hole some. Also, it bogs badly whin I go to load it on the trailer...Almost to the point where I have to get out and winch it up. Do you think new plugs will help, or could it be carb problems. The boat runs like a champ...Just seemd to bog under heavy load. I also think it could be the engine angle when loading, but not much can be done about that. Thanks in advance for the help.

Did you make the throttle roller adjustment?

Try backing your low speed idle jets out 2 full turns (all six of them).

Re: 2000 175 Johnson Bogging (ChampioNman)

I am going to check the linkage first...If that doesn't work I might just take it to my local mechanic who is a good friend of mine. Thanks for the help guys.

my does the same. Had the marina adjust when I bought it, but it still does it. Let me know if you find a fix...

Any problems with the motor just killing when running? Thats the latest mine is doing. Restarts just fine. Mechanic just put a ignition in, saying that was the issue. Obviously, it was not.

Re: 2000 175 Johnson Bogging (ChampioNman)

I checked yesterday and my roller was way off...I adjusted my throttle linkage and got it where it would touch. Now it advances as soon as I press my hot foot. I am going to put it in the water tomorrow and I will let you guys know what happenes. Thanks again for the help.

    Re: 2000 175 Johnson Bogging (00Javelin)

I read the "Heat Soak" post again and looked at the pics on page 5. I adjusted the other roller on top of my carbs to where it is contacting the cam (can't see many pics on my work computer). I didn't bother with the screw and the top roller. That is why I, I guess, I had to adjust with the throttle linkage as opposed to the screw and arm on top. Looking at it work, it seems to have the same result as far as the advance is concerned. If this post makes any sense whatsoever to anyone other than me, please give me a little insight. I haven't gotten to run it yet, except on the hosepipe...maybe I can this afternoon.
