    Crossflow Steering Arm Spline

My motor is an '89 TE150SLCEM (S/N:R08241230), and I'm in the process of rebuilding the powerhead. I pulled the midsection apart to check out why there's slop in the midsection.

I found that the spline in the mount bracket (p/n 0327051) is worn. Couple of questions...1) how much is a new one, and 2) is there a way to repair the one I've got?

The spline on the steering arm is fine.

    Thank a million!!!

You sure it isn't the bushings etc along the shaft? That would be a bunch cheaper than a new bracket. You'll need air to tighten the nut that holds it on though. $63 in bushings and seals and nut is a lot better than $250 for a new bracket. And nope it can't be repaired. But all the parts are still available.

Yeah, I wish it was. I cleaned up the bracket really good and you can see where the spline is totally worn. I pulled out the steering arm and put the bracket directly on it, and it rocks back and forth a bunch.

When I bought the boat, the motor had a bad high speed miss that would cause the motor to slam back and forth pretty violently, which I'm sure caused this problem.

This baby's almost to the point where the parts are going to be more than a replacement motor! I'm looking at over $1000.00 in parts . Oh well, the boat doesn't do me much good without a motor!!

    Thanks CM

Go to the motor parts section DKSTANG has a 200 he is tearing down for parts and has one from his motor it will work if he still has it. He just sold the steering arm for $60.

What part is it exactly that you need? If it is a crossflow steering arm I have 1 I don't need and will let it go cheap. If it is the bracket that attaches to the lower motor mounts I have one of those also but since DKSTANG is parting out I will defer to him first.

Parts can be found at decent prices, just not at a dealer. I ussually sell my unneeded stuff rather cheap to help someone out.

I just sold a good crank for $100 and if you can't get that braket from Stang I'll sell mine for $50. But ask him first as he is already taking his motor down and was first to post(in the motorparts section).

Re: Crossflow Steering Arm Spline (Neveredge)

10-4 Neveredge. I've sent DKSTANG an IM and posted on his thread. I'll let you know if he doesn't have it. Oh, and it's just the lower mounting bracket that I need. The steering arm splines are a-okay!! Thanks for stopping by
