    Play in my prop

I was cleaning the motor/prop the other day and noticed that I have about 1/8" of play in my prop on my evinrude xp 150. And if I turn the prop it sounds like it is in gear alittle. Does this sound like I need the bearings and seals replaced in the lower unit?

Most likely not a problem, may need to have the shift cable adjusted.

When I say play, I mean if I was to push and pull on the prop by standing in front of it. If that is normal than thats good. Just wanted to check. Thanks

There will be a bit of play in the shaft, is the prop tight?

yes, the prop is tight on the shaft. My dad has a 50hp mariner and it has no play in it at all. I just wanted to make sure I didnt loose a 400 dollar prop in the water.

You should have your shift linkage adjusted or you may be shortening the life of the syncro-dogs. Also never ease your shift into gear, do it quickly and crisply.
