There have been posts here about that very subject. It will not be easy!!! May not be possible without some effort!! Not sure about damage,...
My 206 is an 06 and may not be exactly the same, but I've had all the carpet out of mine replacing it. The console is bolted forward and sideways and will therefore leave bolts holes once removed. And they use a mastic of some sort between the console and the side and forward attachment points which will leave a mess. Also look carefully at the carpet to see if it will be affected.
The 05 and newer have modular consoles. It can be done, but will leave holes, etc. Not sure about the 03 console style...If not modular, I have serious doubts it can be done....
