Does anybody know what year champion started all composite stringers?

Got to repair a soft spot in my rod locker and am worried about my stringers under the plywood.

    Fred, Pat? MMosher? 2003 maybe....

Under normal circumstances, wood will not be a problem...unless it gets compromised by drilling and not sealing properly. Thousands of older Champions still running strong with no problems. Hope your issue is not serious.

Lunker Punker, it seems you and I keep running into the same issues. Your 99 203 has wood in the floor and stringers. I found my floor bulging just behind the rod locker in front of the passenger seat. The fiberglass skin was cracked, from what I don't know. May have always been there. I cut into it and found wet wood that ran up into the rod locker and back to the seat. I've cut out all the discolored wood and dug all the wet foam out. I went to the center of the boat a little but didn't get into the stringers from what I can tell. They are sealed up pretty good. I'm glad I found this when I did.

I'm waiting on my order from US Composites of epoxy resin, cloth, and foam to get started.

By the way, I got all the glue off my lids today. I brushed on some MEK and let it dry and then hit it with the 4 1/2" grinder with wire cup brush and it all came off. All I have left to clean is the floor and I may wait until I glass in my repair.

I ripped the carpet out of my locker and after stripping i found a knot in the plywood that was not sealed properly. Factory just sprayed a ton of carpet glue on it. After stripping the knot just fell out and i saw some water that it had sucked in. Im gonna cut out the bad spot and re glass it. The foam and stringers seem fine. Foam is strong with no discoloration. Same thing for the stringers so far. I pulled the seat pedestal off the floor and looked inside my hull and found one side of my drain well seems to be separating a little. The other side of the drain well is solid. The other side looks as if the mat is bowing a little. I can push on it and it moves. the wood behind the mat is solid. Should i glass it up or will it be okay? Im taking pictures as i go and will figure out how to post them sometime in the future.

I'm no help in this line of questioning Lea, sorry. I just relay old stories and pick the brains of some of the old schoolers from back in the day.
