    Battery for 150 FICHT

    I need to replace my starting battery for 99 150 ficht E150FPLEEA. I don't have an owners manual and without any other information would replace with battery equal or greater in all specs, but if someone knows, what are the minimum requirements for CCA and other specs if applicable for this motor.

    This battery also runs all of my accessories...primarily 2 332's. Any recommendations on whether I use a Dual Purpose or straight Deep Cycle. I understand some of the differences...Dual Purpose - jack of all trades, master of none, Deep Cycle meant for deep discharge. Is the a good reason to use/not use one over the other?

    Thanks in advance. I don't come here often, but have found when I do, my questions got answered and I really appreciate that.

    We run 1000 CCA Deka 24 starting batterys in all our DI motors.

    Deep cycle batteries are not intended for sudden bursts of high ampere draws, which is what occurs when the motor is started. They will start most motors, but eventually the battery will short and you'll have wasted money.

    Dual purpose batteries are an average of decent CCA's and deep cycle.
    I run a starting battery in my ficht 200 with electronics and livewell on it and have never had a problem. There are 2 trolling batteries on board as well.

    BTW, if the starting battery is not fully carged, or does not have enough power burst, it will not start a ficht even though the motor seems like it is turning over pretty fast.

    At least 1000 ca amp starting battery. Don't use the dual purpose on the fichts or DI.

    Can you provide any info behind "at least 1000 ca" and "don't use dual purpose"?

    Thanks anyway for the comments. Original battery is dual purpose 575 CCA, never seemed to have a problem, but the battery does need replacing as it's 4-5 yrs old and has what I believe to be a bad cap seal.

    The 1000 is recommended by Rusty and all the gurus that I've talked to, good enough for me. The dual purpose batterys don't have as much sudden burst amps as the starting batteries do. Make sense?

    Yes, thanks for the explanation. Ended up with 1000mca cranking. Local mechanic recommended same thing. Thanks for the help. Beginning to think the original owner of my boat was a few bricks short of a load.

    Mabye he just didn't know better or didn't have access to this place. These guys have taught me a LOT!!!!
