Just finished my first Mainetenance Routine on my 150 FICHT

Big thanks to everyone here for thier help and input. I just finished my seasonal maintenance for my 150 FICHT. Lower Unit Gear Oil, Wheel Bearings, brake fluid, spark plugs, batteries, fuel water seperator.

The anode is still OK so what am I missing in terms of a yearly maintenance?

Also too here is an EXCELLENT link for a step by step lower unit gear oil change (just ignore the Merc Sign) http://www.nitroowners.com/nit...t.htm

Couple of things I would like to add to that list. Pull the prop and check to make sure there is no fishing line around the shaft. Line will eat the seals out of the lower unit. Also there are some grease fittings on my 99 Ficht one on the mid section of the motor and one on each side of the motor (pivot arm? or what ever it is called) I do know that in order to access the two on the front lower side of the motor located near the hydraulic steering arms you have to lower the motor all the way down and turn the wheel as far left and right to access the grease fittings.

You didn't give a model number or year, but if it is a 2000 or later motor you should also remove, clean, and inspect the exhaust sensor tube every 100 hours.

If you did not decarbon the motor, at least run a tank of fuel with a double dose of Carbon Guard in it.

1 1/16 socket should fit it. Retorque @ 70-80 ft. lbs.

Is that the one where you were going to report back whether your ECU was an air cooled finned assembly or whether it had water lines going to and from?

Also how were the injectors fastened to the cylinder heads, with huge locking nuts or a flange with 2 small bolts?

I never did that indexing thing with my '99 Ficht and understand that ETECs require it also, but not for 300 hours, , how hard was it to use 6 plugs and all six line up without excess torque to spin them around ?????? heard you sometimes go through a box of plugs to get the 6 new ones that will index and line up as the procedure calls for..... let us know if you can ....

    http://www.boatsetup.com/PlgIndexing.html

You have actually a bit more than 180° to situate a sparkplug for indexing. If it won't line up on one bank, it will work fine on the other
