Hello-
What engine tuner should I use on a 99 150 Evinrude Ficht? My mechanic gave me QuickKleen, will that do the job? I think it's a Mercury product, but could be wrong.
Thanks,

Been a while since I used QuicKleen, but I remember them being similar products. I doubt it will hurt to use it, but I always felt the BRP/OMC Engine Tuner did a better job.

John-
I noticed the QuicKleen is pretty simple, just add to fuel and go. Is the BRP product more involved?
Thanks.
OK, I think I need someone to straighten my confusion out. Is QuicKleen and similar products considered more of a conditioner, not a tuner? Was reading posts about tuners and they sounded much more involved. Can someone clarify? I was recommended to use 2+4 conditioner and run tuner through my motor once a year. My mechanic just gave me this bottle of QuicKleen and said this is all you need. I think I'm a little confused here.
Thanks,

The Quickkleen and 2+2 conditioner is a gas additive. If you want to decarb your engine the recommended regimen is engine tuner, which as you stated is more involved ,but cleans the engine much better for the conditioners to help clean. However, remember if you are using any oil besides the xd-100 then it's a good idea to decarb once every year or every 100 hrs.

I was thinking of Power Tuner, which is Merc's spray can stuff and similar to BRP's Engine Tuner.
QuicKleen is similar to Carbon Guard. 2+4 is a fuel conditioner/stabilizer and you're right Mike, they're fuel additives.
Last time I was exposed to a black engine was April 2000, sorry for the confusion.
