i have replaced my oil pump and my oil sensor. my mechanic said that the new sensor went bad. the sensor was replaced (under warrantee). i am taking the boat out today. if this issue occurs again, what other areas can i trouble shoot? i have a funny feeling that is something else. thanks in avance.
What's it doing? Overoiling, underoiling, leaking into the breather, overfilling the main tank, or just not moving oil from the remote tank to the main?
it is over oiling. smoking really bad and leaking oil into the cowling. when i turn the key on, i can hear the pump filling the resevoir on the engine. my mechanic said it was a bad sensor, but the place i bought the sensor from said they have never heard of a sensor going bad. they are replacing the sensor, but if it happens again, i know it is something else. thanks for the help.
Just curious, does it leak oil even when it's off, but trimmed up? If so, you may have a check-ball in the oil pump that's got a piece of debris behind it, keeping it a little bit open.
Have you tinkered with the oil pump linkage rod?
