Lower Unit Removal Question for water pump change

I am having problems removing the last screw that is above the torque tab. I have tried a couple of 9/16" sockets and none seem to fit all the way down to the screw. Is there any special socket that I need. I know it sounds like a simple question, but short of grinding the edges of one of my sockets to make it fit., any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is on a 2001 Vmax 225 EFI.

    Thx, fastlife

It is metric. I recommend 6 point sockets.
