pro trim install went wrong but how ?

Was installing a single Pro trim unit on my ZX195 today. the motor is a Yamaha 200 ox66 after getting the steering wheel off and getting the unit mounted went for the wiring. was looking for a red, green and a blue wire. after crawling under the dash and not finding them went to the bow to see the wiring there. red, mint green and dark blue. weeded through a large bundle of wires leading from the throttle lever and found the wires I needed. cut a red, mint green ( turned to dark green and a dark blue ( that changed to light blue). now I only had trim going up on both the pro trim and the throttle, both are the same. tried to even hook the wires back up the way they were, no dice up only. go to the outboard and down works fine. spliced the red back together and tried both combos and still only have trim going up ( still works on the outboard switch) would it help by taking the throttle control off and checking if the down wire is screwed up there or is it too much of a hassle. read the directions " only three wires to hook up " wanted to get the line wet this week, now I see why I quit fishing

This is the way I learn how to remember which wire was for what. Red-power,green-down (grass) and the blue-up (blue sky). So if you can not go down I would look at the green wire.

There should be a wire connector just out from the throttle lever. As I was splicing the wires for my ProTrim, my UP all of a sudden quit. Turned out the wire in the connector was almost broke, so I crimped a new terminal on it. So check your wires at the connections.

Sounds like a good idea. will get all connections together and as the other poster suggested, look for the problem with the green wire. thanks for your help.

No kidding, guess I may have an issue very similar to what you had. did not see the connector from the throttle lever. will have to look again and also check any connectors . did you have the throttle lever off ?

No,actually, I have a cup holder just behind it that I removed. I was able to pull the wiring harness up through that hole far enough.

Ok I see how you gained access to the trim wires, not a bad deal. got to work on the trim wires today and the fix " insert drum role here lol " took all of 5 minutes. hooked up the read, and the blue, trim up worked on both the pro trim and the throttle. checked connections, no dice. got out my trusty flashlight and looked behind the throttle location. found a male connector with a " green " wire all by it's lonesome. looks like it pulled apart when I was in there. we are now back in business. thanks again everybody who chimed in. I have learned a lot on the board in a short time. oh yea one thing I have taken from this install..... a hotfoot does not make for a good headrest
