Hello, I am a newbie and am trying to figure out why my boat acts better when somebody sit in front. It feels like less drag? Does it mean I should put a motor plate or something? I got 1995 Proline 170 and a 2006 Yam 90. I also got on the Yam a Hydrofoil.
Does it truly go faster or does the motor just go faster. One thing might be that the motor is getting more air around it and is thus speeding up. Does the 90 have trim/tilt? If not you may be pushing the nose of the boat up and not pushing forward enough. When someone sits up front it brings the bow down and allows it to plane off better. I'm no expert but just some uneducated guesses.
