    Fall plots for whitetail

I'm wanting to plant 1 maybe two 1/2 acre plots on my grandfathers land in Bath county KY. This is my first time doing this. Any recommendations on what seed/seed mix that any of you have had good results with around here in KY. I've been trying to read up on this on the internet without much luck (was really kind of confusing what I found) and went to BPS last night to look at there selection and hopefully get some info from one of their associates, , that didn't happen.

I have about 100 acres to hunt and I know where I want to put them. I'm just really hoping to get something in this month to increase traffic through my area. Then next spring starting something more long term and along the lines of (well as close as I can with only 100 acres) quality deer mgmt.

From what I've read I can't really start any kind of real/major quality deer mgmt program with only 100 acres I know. I also just can't get the neighbors with connecting land to buy into the proper harvesting ethic to help prodce a better herd. But I want to do something with what I have at least.

Any other information that you all can throw out there would be great. Thanks.

Do you guy's have a county FSA/NRCS office.Sometimes they have some good people working there that can steer you in the right direction for your neck of the woods.

It's too dry to grow grass. Just pour out some ear corn.

Not sure where the farm is located in Bath Co. But you should have a great time trying to manage and deer population over there. Between the trespassers and poachers, I gave up on bath county a LONG time ago. I do know that I have see 2 170+ deer in BC down on the licking river, there are some monsters running around over there, thats for sure.

I know what you mean. Like I said we can't get the neighbors to not shoot anything that moves in the woods.

When thats the case it's best to let some of the land grow up like a crp field. If you have the best hiding /bedding cover you'll keep the best deer on your land the most.

Buck Forage Oats. Very easy to plant and the deer love it. There slogan is "The Kill Plot" because it works so well in the fall/early winter. Good luck!!
