    exhaust tuner ?

    Hey guys,

I was just replacing my water pump on my 2000 225EFI, I noticed that most of the idle ports were plugged up, can the tuner be removed without pulling the power head off? If I do have to pull the power head a list of necessary parts would be nice.

    thanks,

got to pull the powerhead to do it.You need a powerhead base gasket and adapter plate to tuner gasket. Get a lifting eye and take sidecovers off. There are 10 nuts holding the powerhead on. you need to disconnect shift shaft under intake manifold and take water hoses loose from head. Lift everything else intact clean and replace. If I were doing it I would get a set of solid motormounts and install while I was that far into the midsection.

Since the parts catalogs will lead you to a "dead-end" on the powerhead and adapter plate gaskets.... I'll go ahead and provide you the part numbers for the "latest and greatest" improved gaskets:

    832933006 Powerhead Gasket
    832934006 Adapter Plate Gasket

NOTE: When torquing powerhead- there has been a torque spec change for the two studs/nuts UNDER cylinder #6. DO NOT torque these two in the final torque sequence (contact me by email if you need assistance here).

thanks guys, are there any other "should do's" that would be a good thing to address while I'm this far in ??? hate to do it right in the middle of fishing season but that's the way it goes. also, concerning the mounts, where's the best place to get them and should I get upper and lowers or just uppers??

    thanks again, Perry

    +1

Bob's Machine has some solid mounts that are VERY competitively priced.

I would recommend double checking them with a micrometer to ensure the dimensions match.... just to be 100% before installing them.
