    Senko Tip

Everybody always complains about going through a lot of GYCB Senko's and there have been products made to lengthen the life (rings, tape, glue, etc) But as a guide I do not have time to go through all of that with clients. Here's an eay way to get them to last.........Put them in your cooler. If they are cool the plastic is a little tougher. If I am running from one spot to the next, I will put them with hook and line attached in the cooler. And I swear, the fish like the cool texture more.

    Re: Senko Tip (TOXIC)

Everybody always complains about going through so many Sinko's because its true. These are about the most expensive baits on the market and they do not last anywhere near a long as they should due to the poor quality of the plastics used. About one trip through the hydrilla or bull rushes and the lure is trash. If you get more than one bass on one lure, you are doing better than I. Obviously, this is not a flaw, rather its my guess they are designed this way to sell more lures.

I've found the Lakes Brand to be just as good at catching bass, they last better than twice as long, cost about half what the Sinko's do AND are sold at Wally world. In my humble opinion, the Sinko's are a rip-off!! I get totally PO'ed everytime I try to fish with them....NO MORE...

    Re: Senko Tip (Chopper)

    Chopper,
The reason they dont last long is because they are loaded with salt. As for being a rip-off, in my opinion they are worth every penny. If land 6 or 7 bass per pack its well worth it to me. I have tried the so called copies and none are as productive as the Senko. Its the price of using a high quality bait. They work

    Re: Senko Tip (TR186FLA)

The only "copy" I have tried that is "productive" is the Magik Stick by Charlie Case. You really need to check them out. http://www.madtoms.com Charlie is a great guy and his prices don't sting as much! They outperformed Senkos on a trip I made to a clear water lake and the only time I buy Senkos is when I am needing a color Charlie doesn't do!!

    Re: Senko Tip (TR186FLA)

TR186, Understand the salt impregnation and how that affects the plastics, however I still maintain that the Senko's are too fragile. Actually a guide down at Toho told me about the Lakes lures and he uses them instead of the Senko's mainly because of the expense and he reported they catch fish just as good as anything else he's tried, plus last longer. Seems to me, and I'm no expert by any means, that if folks like Strike King and others can make soft plastic baits that will stretch from here to yonder and are almost indestructible, (BTW, they are heavily salt impregnated too) then the Senko's could be made a little bit stronger and would be a better value for the fisherman.

    Just my opinion.

I hope everybody starts using Senko knock-offs. That means more bass for me!

    Re: Senko Tip (riverman)

I don't think a guide with 20 plus years would be using a lure that did not produce for him. Anyway, I got the name incorrect. Its actually Wave Worms, not Lake as I had called them earlier. Since the guide told me about them, I've used some and had pretty good luck. The Senko's produce well too, they are just expensive when you fish in these Florida lakes where you are continually pulling them through grass and weeds. The grass itself will tear the hook out on almost every cast and requires a new lure. This is what I get frustrated about. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, don't know. I think I will try putting them on ice as suggested to see if it helps. Sounds like a real good tip!!

I use the wave worm tiki sticks. It's probably not the toughest. But works great. Have caught 3 or 4 on one before wacky style. Also highly impregnated with anise oil and salt

    Re: Senko Tip (ed396ranger)

The Wave Worms are fine, But they fall differently than the GYCB Senko. The Senko has a slower fall and a slower action to it. I have yet to see any of the knock-offs that have actually got the same fall and action as the original.

Fact is Senkos catch fish. My take on this is if I catch a couple of nice fish on a bag it's well worth the money. They work well wacky style after they start getting tore up.

I might catch more on the real Senko if they didn't fly off after 3 casts

I like the Strike King version, especially the green/chartruese laminate. But my go-to is a local company...Money Mouth Baits. Their 5" fishbone in watermelon red flake loaded the boat last summer.

Does being cold and hard not effect the action? I would think so.

Personally, I like the PTL stuff because I can buy a pro pack of 25 for the cost of 1 pack of Senkos.
