I recently had to put in a new trim/tilt motor on my 2006 250XS Optimax. The voltage alarm is constantly sounding when I trim up or trim down the motor once I am on plane. As soon as I hit the trim, I can see my voltage gauge go haywire. I have an odyssey battery and it is fully charged. Any explanation of what might be causing this?
Also had the low voltage alarm a several times after I had the trim unit replaced on my 2007 XS last year. I had to take mine back because my trim gauge quit working. Turned out they had left a wire semi-loose. I'm thinking maybe they tightened some wires and the battery terminals. No issues since. How do you like the Odyssey batteries? Am considering them as a replacement if/when my Dual Pro's give out. Thanks!
Several things can cause this. Some of the more common:
-Improperly connected BATTERY TERMINALS. Check to ensure that terminals are CLEAN, with the ENGINE CABLE INSTALLED FIRST. Install remaining lugs largest to smallest, and finish off the connection with a STAINLESS LOCKNUT (do NOT use wingnuts).
-Engine End of Battery Cable Connections: Ground cable at block (down below starter), and positive cable connection at power post AND/OR Starter Solenoid. Ensure all are clean and tight.
-GROUND CONNECTIONS for relay wiring harness loose/dirty.
