Mercury 2000 225 DFI Bogging problems

Hi guys New to the board.

I bought a 2000 225 dfi that was sitting in storage for over a year the high press pump was locked up. so i replaced that i replaced every high pressure line on the motor. Also evey fuel line and primar bulb has been replaced on the boat

When i first fired it up it ran great at idel. I had the thoretel controls disc. and advanced the throtel to WOT and had no gain in rpms. I did this a few time then eng like broke free and I was able to rap the eng. out, and maintain Higher RPMs.

I went to the lake yesterday to test run the motor. Everything was fine at idel. when o went to WOT the RPMs would come up then start falling off to about 3000 rpms. so i would bring it back to mid T then hammer it back down and the eng would come alive and have no problems after the unless I brought it back to idle.

I was thinking it could be a throttle postion sensor.

    What are yall thoughs.

Also the eng. was running alittle warm what could cause that also.

    thank yall for your time.

    William

Re: Mercury 2000 225 DFI Bogging problems (surfcowboy)

    Welcome to BBC!

    A couple of observations/comments:

    1. DO NOT rev the engine in neutral, or when on the trailer (running on flush attachments). This can cause FAULTS, and has the potential to cause severe or catastrophic powerhead failures.

    2. Were the FUEL INJECTORS and DIRECT INJECTORS professionally cleaned? They are subjected to the same "old and soured fuel" as the high pressure fuel pump.....

    3. What about the PULSE fuel pump and the low pressure fuel pump? Fuel filter changed?

    4. Ensure that the throttle cable is returning the throttle arm FIRMLY against the throttle stop. It is ABSOLUTELY IMPERITIVE that NO THROTTLE INPUT be applied when the key is turned on, or when the engine is started. Partial throttle input at this point will result in TPS faults, and a reduction in available throttle percentage (Engine Guardian). The ECM "learns" the idle position each time the key is turned on (or the engine is started), and must "presume" whatever position the TPS is at ACTUALLY IS IDLE.
