I sanded down an old rod that was painted and used the restorer on it, it worked great. I know the problem with the diawa's. My older team diawas are doing the same thing. Would you try to take the finish off the rods, or go right over it? Wouldn't want to damage the rods by sanding too much.
I've used the Gudebrod, but I like U-40 Permagloss better. It's easier to work with and seems to flow better. I would use steel wool instead of sandpaper to to rough up the existing finish. If it is cracked, the Permagloss will do a good job of covering it up. If it is flaking, you need to carefully remove any flakes with an exacto knife. It can be a time consuming undertaking, but you need to take your time if you want it to look good.
\"You should\'ve been here last week.\"
