Evinrude remote control box

OK...box is mounted on the right side of the drivers seat. Looking at the box, on the right side and going down are the following:

1) Key switch
2) A knob that rotates to the left and right
3) Input cable from the engine
4) A plug with 2 wires (grey and purple/pink)

What does #2 and #4 do? Wiring is kinda' messed up so I'm trying to figure this one out.

#2 is a throttle friction adjustment. turn it right and the throttle will stay where you put it when running.

#4 is a plug for the Tach, hole "A" is 12 volt switched B+...(Hot)
Hole "B" is Tach signal from the motor.
Hole "C" is Ground.
The letters are on the plug and may be hard to see.
