Carb ?'s

I have a 1989 Rude 150 (can't find model # or sn) that I'm helping my cousin work on... Engine would fire then not at times and he changed pp, stator and timer base untill now the engine will fire all the time. Problem now is when we ran it in the river it would idle fine but wanted to bog down and had trouble getting on plane. The engine sat for approximatley 2 yrs. and we both think it may be the carbs. Maybe it's the timing?? Anyway the question is what would we have to do to take the carbs off of a 89 175 (Model # E175STLCEB - SN R08276120) and put them on the 89 150. I heard that the only differnce b/w his 150 and my 175 is carbs. Any help?

Better recheck your manuals big difference between the two. But to remove your brothers cards and those off of a 175 you need a 7/16" wrench. Have you checked the primer bulb or tried to squeeze it with it running to make sure it is firm? Has your brother pushed in the choke to see if the motor picks up when the bogging occurs? If it picks up he has a fuel issue if not it is electrical. After all the electronic components were replaced did your brother set timing to specs and do a sync N link?

That would be a no to all of your suggestions/questions, but the problem seems to be fixed. He changed the inline fuel filter and primer bulb and hose ran a bunch of seafoam through the last tank of fuel and yesterday it ran fine. Don't know if it's fixed for good or what but we'll know more later this week. Thanks for the help.
