Hey guys,

I have my boat for sale right now and I recieved an e-mail from someone interested in buying it.

Question is, I don't know if this is a scam or not... I gave him the info on the boat and he said thats what he wanted and agreed on the price...

Thats all good and everything, but he then said he would have his bank send me a cashiers check for a certain amount to put a deposit on it... Cool...

This is where it gets funny... He then said he would send a surveyer to check out the boat and I would have to give the surveyor 6k... upon the inspection, he would send the remaining balance...

I have only sold one other boat on my own and not sure what to do...

I have seen some scams before but this one seems different... I can post copies of the e-mail...

It seems legit, but not sure... take a look...

"Jose,

Everything sounds good and your offer is accepted.

Pls I will be out of town on these dates 03/13 to 04/08/2007 and I will wish to make a deposit payment so that you can reserve the boat for me.

I will instruct my banker to send you a $26,000 cashiers check which you'll hold as deposit while my surveyor will come over for the inspection,as soon as he confirms that everything is o.k,the balance of your payment will be provided and the title will be transfered.

Please advice the following info.

i....Complete Names for payment.....

ii....Billing Address....

iii...Contact phone #....

NB; When you receive the $26,000 deposit, you're to remmitt $6,000 to my surveyor so that he can use it to make arrangment regarding the inspection, meaning that you'll hold $20,000 for the deposit.

The remaining balance will be paid subject to inspection by my surveyor.

Below is my address incase you'll need it for the title papers.

XXXX E. 2800 N. RD.,
Dwight IL. 60420

Waiting for your answers so that my banker can send you the payment."

Scam or no scam?

Thanks,

Jose
