    Spinner Bait Suggestion

I don't fish spinner baits much, but I am looking for some suggestion on color and blade style, what ever you suggest I will get from Eric at Heavy Cover. I have an all white w/white Colorado Indiana combination from Heavy Cover. Thanks For the input.

Tell Eric you want one of the combos he made for me for Lanier. Good clear water bait. White skirt with a bit of green flash, small front willow in nickle and larger white rear willow.

Chart/White skirts with gold willow blades are also good, especially in March /April

what kind of water are you fishing?? I mean is it grass, rocks, trees, redclay....etc that is always a good start. The second thing you want to look at is what is the normal size of the bait fish that are present when you are using them to make blade determinations. I pick up a spinnerbait in march and wont put it down until usulaly July and then I still have it tied on for the remainder of the year. I can tell you that I throw nothing no lighter than 1/2 ounce, unless im fishing for crappie a #4 blade is as small as I will go as well hope that helps

    Re: Spinner Bait Suggestion (Lee)

Our lakes don't have much if any grass on them. Some lakes on the SC border do, like Clark Hill or the southern lakes like Sinclair and Seminole, but the northern mountain lakes are just deep and clear with rocks and stumps.

We do get some stained up shallow water on the northern end in the rivers and creeks, but most of the time we are fishing deep rocky banks with fast moving baits. The wind is the biggest factor on our lakes for fishing blades.

The key to getting bites with a spinnerbait for most of the year, is fishing windy banks with dropoffs and brush or other wood cover on them, and fish them fast, making the fish come out and get them.

Here is something that worked for me, and is not a unique storage problem in boat or soft side tackle bags. I had bought the notched Plano boxes and they worked fairly well but would still get bounced out of the holding notches. I added a couple of strips of foam home insulation tape to the inside of the lids to line up with the rails that hold the baits. Cheap, get it anywhere, works
