    Engine Repair

You guys know anyone who works on evinrude engines in the Montgomery area? I have a 1999 Evinruded 200 Ficht that I need some work on. It is an OMC motor so I wasn't sure.

I went to Evinrude/Bombardier website and they listed Gene's Marine in Clanton, a place in LaGrange and a place in Newnan. Since I work in Montgomery, Gene's would be the most convenient, but was hoping for some input or other options.

I have only had one dealing with Gene's and it was getting a part for a busted axle. They were closing when we got there and opened back up to go get us the parts to fix our axle and offered to come help. I haven't had any experience other than that.

I have someone recommended in Dothan, but would rather keep it close by if possible.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Thanks, I will give them a call. That would be really good since they are just up the road .

I second Eddie's comment. Gene's in Montgomery has a pretty good service dept. There is a guy nammed John that runs the service dept. that will help you out. Last time I was there he was still there. He comes and goes sometimes but last I heard he is still there. I have heard good and some bad about them but all my dealings have been good and I will keep them as my mechanic until otherwise. Good luck!!!

    Gene's

I have used them and the service is good. Montgomery Marine charges to much for me. I need work done on a budget. Took my boat in on Wednesday and they told me it would be done by Sat and I was done in 3 hours!

    Gene's...

I've always gotten good service and reasonable pricing there.....I re-powered with my H.O. from there...have had warranty problems and have always got fast service. I have heard good and bad......but I think you will hear that about ANY marine repair facility.

They have always shot it straight with me.

Well, I appreciate the information on Gene's, but I called them and they won't work on an Evinrude Ficht and said they didn't know anyone that would. Just my luck.

    Back to square one.

I have been pondering that very idea.

My needs just outweigh my wants so I will just have to wait.
