    lower unit bolt

I need to know diameter, thread and length of the socket head cap screw that holds the lower unit on under the anode. I'm guessing I won't find it at home depot.

I think the head size is different than standard. I ordered mine from Don. Not that expensive and is the right bolt.

    Re: lower unit bolt (fastglass1)

I'm not worried about cost, just not sure if the Marina's will be open on the holiday. I changed the water pump, lower unit fluid, did some rewiring, bought a new starter battery and this bolt is the only thing holding me back. I saw the anode was missing and bought a new one, came with a new bolt, wish I had looked closer before I pulled the lower unit. I want to get it wet tomorrow, but I'll wait if I can't get the right part. Hopefully they'll be open and I can get the part in the morning.

Run it. Not having the anode for a few trips, won't hurt anything. There are 3 different anode locations. Missing one is not big deal.

Ahhhh. Sorry my mistake. I would not run without that one.

Matt, do you still need the info?

The bolt is M12 X 35mm, 1.75P. It's not special. Other than the fact that you can't fit the socket for it's hex head equivalent in the hole to tighten it up. The SHCS in that length isn't a Home Depot buy, 40mm is easier to find. The Marina had the washer, but I had to get the bolt somewhere else, it's grade 8.8 so no worries. It was a pain in the ass to find it, but it's all tightened up now.

Glad to hear you got it fixed.

Sometimes it would be nice if engine/boat/car manufacturers used standard off-the-shelf hardware. I don't know how many times I have had to go buy something special.
