2000 225 HO johnson opinion

I am looking at a 2000 225 HO johnson carberated motor. It has just been rebuilt by a reputable dealer. The motor has not been broke in yet. Is this year/model a good motor and are they reliable? I currently have a 1989 200 hp evinrude on a 1989 stratos 201 pro with a 6 inch jackplate. My current motor needs to be rebuilt but I have all new electronics for the 200 hp motor (stator, rectifier, power pack, etc and I have all new bearings in the power head) Is the johnson typically a good motor? Yep the carbed motors are fine.

The 2000 Johnson 225 HO is solid as a rock. Break it in correctly, use good oil, de-carb every year and it will serve you well. The motor is very, very strong and it's not afraid of RPMs.

Here is the bad news. It's a 2 stroke carbed motor that runs on gasoline. A lot of gasoline!

Love my johnson 225 HO. It is a little thristy on gas but what motor isn't going wot?

Thats just it, Altho I don't burn as much gas as the carb motors I can sure tell it when I'm running wot with my DI!!! Remember, if ya making HP Ya burning gas!!!!!

I just bought a 225ho and it makes my old 1994 stratos get up and take notivce. most people on the lake dont try to pass me now, they hear the whine of the engine and usually just sit and watch her fly.
