    2006 275 Pro XL - Livewell question

I recently got my first real boat, an '06 275 PXL and have noticed that the livewells seem to fill with about an inch of water just from being in the water. The dial under the throttle is set to "empty", isn't that supposed to keep water from coming in? Thanks for any help

Pretty sure empty means the drain is open, therefore letting water in when the boat is in the water. My old javelin r18 did that too.

Cumara, I also have an '06 275PXL. The livewell filling to about 1-2 inches is normal....it will fill as high as the level of the waterline. When you are in the empty position, this opens the valve allowing the water to drain when the boat is out of the water.

This is from the Flow-rite website: (hope this helps! http://www.flow-rite.com ) You may have a valve issue, but this is a common thing. My stratos did that and my Allison too.

    EMPTY - ON/OFF-PLANE
The "EMPTY" position is, of course, used for draining the livewell. It is, however, much more than just an open drain position. When placed in the "EMPTY" position, the control valve allows water to exit the transom drain, but not enter. This check feature is most appreciated by the tournament angler, who in the wee hours of the morning, does not have to remember to close a livewell drain prior to launching as the control is already in the "EMPTY" position. Water will automatically be prevented from entering the livewell as the boat is backed into the water. No more blast-offs with hundreds of pounds of unwanted water in the livewell.

Thanks a ton for everyone's input!

This is what has me wondering if something was wrong:

"When placed in the "EMPTY" position, the control valve allows water to exit the transom drain, but not enter."

There is plenty of water entering with the dial set to EMPTY, so sounds you're probably right that there might be a problem with the control valve.

    Re: 2006 275 Pro XL - Livewell question (Sudz200proxl)

I contacted Flow-Rite and they recommended setting the dial to "RECIRC" before launching the boat as the best way to prevent water from entering. They also said that water may still enter the boat even with it set to "RECIRC", and to back the boat in slowly.
