The rod lockers are open all the way to the bow,at least my '06 is. I know the 7'6" rods fit...I too have the flip stick, but any longer and the tips might get caugt in the wireing in the bow.

My 7 foot rods get caught in the wiring. I don't have an organizer, so I bought some rod socks from BPS and they work great.

    Re: 294 rod storage (StratosNCO)

No offense intended to anyone who likes the rod organizer, but the first thing I do is take out the rod organizer. The plant can't put in rod tubes all the way up to the bow because 12 or 14 tubes take up alot of space. The rod tips have to poke out the ends of the rod tubes simply due to space limitations. I don't like my rod guides catching on the ends of the tubes. I use the rod socks, and for baits like rat-l-traps, I use a BPS velcro cover over them to keep them from snagging on everything. The rods are easy to get to and the socks keep your $200 rods from hanging on anything. It's easy to overload the boat with rods when you use rod socks or stors-it. You can slide the rods in rod socks up further in the rod locker so you can put in longer rods.

If you're ordering a boat or buying a new one, I'd probably get the rod organizer with the boat in case you want to sell or use it later.
