Guage Problem

Need you'lls help went out this weekend & for some reason the RPM & the speed guages are not working??? All of the other guages are fine & working great.
My question is can these guages burn out??? Someone told me that more than likely the wiring is coming loose or it is already loose, I Looked & all the wires seem in place & none or loose, wires look good with no pieces of the wire exposed like it rubbed or knicked up against something???

tach going out is a sign that you may have electrical problems in the motor or the gauge isnt working, I would replace the gauge first and then see if that does it before having a tech tear into the motor. You did not post what engine or year you have so I am supposing it is an omc/brp motor, as for the speedo if you have an opening in the front of the lower unit it may be plugged with crap and needs to be cleaned, if a thing hanging off the transom it may be that your tubing froxe or it is clogged and needs cleaning most speedos on boats unless I command and such are water pressure controled and hense if clogged wont work.
also if you have wing nuts on your cranking battery take them off and put on lock nuts or nuts with lock washers as wing nuts work loose and can cause havoc with electrical stuff.
