Is there any issues with this motor, do I need to check for something or change something out that could be a problem later... Would like to know so I am not out tons of money later...

Boots, Your motor should have the carb drain plugs and should have the upper crankcase bearing bolts.
You can check for the carb drain plugs by removing the air box and removing the carb drain screws, brass looking slotted screws on the bottom of each carb, There will be lots of fuel behind them so Don't Smoke.![]()
If the drain screws have a tit on them, its offset and split, then all is good there.
You need to remove the main jet from number 2 carb, this carb is on the opposite side of the block from number 2 cylinder, there is a number stamped in the jet, replace the jet with a 2 size bigger jet.
You can check the upper crankcase bearing bolts by looking at them, if the are painted black then you should replace them, the new bolts will be gold or yellow in color and do not need to be replaced.
With all this said, if everything else on the motor is right, Things still happen.![]()
I had to put new pistons in mine like some others - on some 97s the piston ring pins (retainers) come out and score the cylinder. I had one cylinder scored some but salvageable - I put the updated pistons and rings in her. They are cold blooded starters in the morning!
Rusty - which cylinder is No 2? And are the crankcase bearing bolts - you mean under the flywheel?? To look see.
Looking at the rear of the motor the #2 cylinder is top left #1 is top right. Yes those bolts are under the flywheel.
Rusty . what happens if the jet in #2 has not been replaced and what will I gain by changing it out .. Where can I get that jet and can it be done by myself... The crankcase bolts on my engine are still painted black, why do I need to change them, can it be done by me and where can I get those...
The jet change is to help a lean out problem( cool) the #2 cylinder if i rememeber correctky.
Boots, this is all based on your ability's, the jet you can get from your dealer, the crankcase head bearing bolts......you can also get from your dealer.
