Hi All, Boy, What a web site. I can spend alot of time reading everyones ideas and advice.
I'm thinking about a Stratos with a 1991 Johnson outboard on the transom. It's in good shape cosmetically.
Please respond with any and all things that I should be aware of concerning this motor.

If you provide a serial number, someone can probably look at motor history for you. The Johnson carbed motors are normally pretty bullet proof, when taken care of.

They cannot do histories that far back but I can tell you that the fastrike engines were great. I ran one for 10 years with no problems. I would do a compression check on it and if it is good then go for it.

Can't do anything with the serial # on that M/Y motor. They are generally a strong running motor and love the gas. As long as you don't keep your foot in it they aren't that bad. The model # will tell us if it is a 60* or a 90* motor. Both were made in that year.
