    Jackplate do's and don't's....

Hey guys, i have a 04' TZX 190 with a 150 HPDI i bought a few years back. The original owner only put 42 hours on it in 5 years and i know he never adjusted the jackplate and was wondering if any of you had any pictures showing the jackplate and where it's suppose to be set at?? I have a 25P prop on it now and was wondering if i could get a little more out of it. It came with a 23P prop and could only get 57mph by the gps and with the 25p only 58mph on flat calm water. Is the top speed or can it go a little better?? I thank everyone in advance for any help on this. This site is the best for information like this!!!!

Just watch your water pressure! If the pressure drops too low the motor will overheat

Keep going up till you loose Water Pressure and/or speed then come back down, That rig should run around 62-64 set up right.

Sent you a IM back and an email with pictures as requested. Let me know if there's anything else I can do for ya.

And I think 'Fishin' ment to say RAISE the motor to 3" below the pad. I don't know what my prop shaft height is due to me not having a level surface to measure on ..... jackplate seperation is all I got. but I do know it's higher than 3" below the pad. It's more like 2.5" below the pad. But don't quote me on that.

But you can quote me on the 2" seperation of jackplate halves for the Yamaha M props.

I have the stock 25M on my 2000 ZX 185C with 150 and have seen 64.8 with a light load, and faster on the river. Still trying to break 65 on still water. I'm 2.25" below pad and water pressure is a non issue. RPM's are up around 5950.

The motor half of the jackplate is 1/2 inch above the boat half so i'm thinking it needs to come up alot.....gonna take it out sunday and try it out. Thanks again for all the post, you guys and this site is the best on earth!!!!!

On mine the difference between the two in the picture is 3 inches. 12" slidemaster. Seems to be the same jackplate

    Re: Jackplate do's and don't's.... (04Skeeta)

    Correction ! ! ! !

    I told you 2" seperation on the M prop and 2.25" on the TR04 ..... THAT'S WRONG !

I just noticed tonight that my little ruler I just got that had used to make that measurment is 1/8" off since it doesn't start measuring until you're 1/8" on the stick ......

So the Yamaha M prop is 2 1/8".
    The TR04 is 2 3/8".

    Sorry about that !

    @ 'Fishin'

Don't worry Bro', I say the samething about the A/C. Even get scolded by my midwestern wife about calling the garden hose a 'hose pipe'.

A/C up means make it colder.
Heat up means make it warmer.

    I keep her guessing.

Your jackplate looks real close to where mine is. Your not going to get much more speed then that. They are not speed demons
