Who went from the ZX series to an iClass?

Just had a killer deal fall in my lap on a loaded out 20i that will be ready this fall and I have about talked myself into it. Super low hours and will be like new complete with every extra you can have. just curious as to those that have made the jump and do you like the i's better? I have had four of the Zx225-250 models and love them. Thanks

2007 zx225 to 2008 20i; better ride in rough water, a little wider at the bow, more accessible storage. Also more expensive to run gas and oil wise. The hpdi series 2 250 is an expensive motor to run...most of my days on the water are a minimum of 50 miles and often 70. 3 miles a gal is my avg and a gal of oil...thats running 3800 to 4400 rpm.....I really like the boat...best I've had and would consider keeping it but that motor will have to go.

Mark I've had a couple ZX and a couple I's. However, the reel comparison is my good buddy and tournanet partner has a 08 zx 250, and I have an 09 21 I. We both agree the I-class rides a tad nicer. The I class feels heavier and alittle more lethargic than the ZX, but top speeds are very close. Also the I class tends to float more level in the water than the ZX. The seats are a better fit fore me than the ZX and I enjoy the overall amenities. However, the ZX is not far behind, it to is an impresive rigg.

dont know if my comparison would/ will help ya,, i went from a zx(05) to an 20i(07) this was three years ago. I fish touneys and fish alot on the Miss River, the i boat is solid and quiet a bit more stable in ruff water, but they all ride ruff at times on the river! probally not as quick in turns, as the zx was, but the deck is lot better and i like the locks and other bells and whisles. Love my i boat, but i do agree with pe-nut,, the gas /oil in the hpdi's is tuff to handle. i thought about trading for a fx/sho, or repowering with an SHO on my i boat, but i also thought about going back to the zx with a 225SHO.

Everyone says that and I-class has a better ride, I cant see how it can be any better than my ZX, it rides like a caddy.

Personally, when I come out of the ZX it will be to a FX. I've compared all three boats side by side and like the ZX and FZ smooth hulls better than the i with its contours. But you are the one making the choice for the i, it's a great boat and it must be a GREAT deal to come out of your ZX.

I had the same thought cross my mind just the other day...I like my i so well that repowering with the SHO might be an option down the road....Mark...I have never met you but I beleive your a big guy like myself... biggest differnce going from the ZX to the i for me was the room behind the wheel....there is no comparison....I hope to get a ride in an FX this weekend but for now the i is the best fit for me and my wallet...

I think I'm gonna like it just fine. BTW tonight's tourney I saw a FX/SHO blow away about 6 other similar sized boats in a shotgun start. It was hauling the mail.

I went from a ZX225 to my 21i, and to me, the difference is measurable. It feels MUCH more stable in rough water, and it feels like the overall fit and finish is a notch higher on the I-Class. It just feels, to me, like a more solidly built boat. Less rattling and looseness than the ZX.

I'm pretty rough on a boat, and my I is holding up really well. Really enjoy it, and I can't imagine you being disappointed if you decide to switch.

Yes - on all the above. The i-Class switch was a great move for me. Benefits I have seen are (1) smoother ride, (2) better handling, (3) more comfortable seats, (4) higher lift, (5) same type of speed numbers, etc etc. I went from a 210ZX to a 21i. 225 Yammie to a 300 Yammie.
