    2001 Rude Problem

I have a 225 that runs fine on fishing days, but when I go to pull the kids in a tube it shuts down. What I'm thinking is that I am pushing it harder and constantly reving it up & down that she is getting hot and shuts her self down as a safety measure. After a couple minutes, she fires right back up.......anyone have an answer to this?

    Thanks in advance!!!

do you have a water pressure gauge??? If so what is the water pressure?? If you do not have one then WHY NOT??? seriously it sound to me as though you are not getting the proper amount or proper of water volume possibly due to a weak pump??? Again just a guess here...

So would low water pressure shut down an engine with no alarm sound?

    Re: 2001 Rude Problem (RUSTY63)

I guess the model number would help, sorry about that.....Model #E225FHLSI. I never thought about checking the horn or lights, but I do know the bilge pump worked and if I remember correctly, the the 4 red check-down lights would work sometimes when the key was turned on. Any advise is appreciated

What he is refering to on the horn and lights is a warning buzzer going off(you will here it) and the system check lights being lite up....

Re: 2001 Rude Problem (THE WITCHDOCTOR)

What prop are you running? I have the same B&M combo, If I need more holeshot or low end torque I put a 25" Renegade on but my (fishing)speed prop is a 26 Raker cut by Boger, I don't think I would want to use more than a 25 in a heavier weight application.

Re: 2001 Rude Problem (Mark from NY)

Craig - I haven't heard the buzzer before the motor shuts down. The 4 checkdown lights have come on when I turned the key trying to turn the motor back on, but the lights do not checkdown everytime in this situation. When it does checkdown, I do remember hearing a buzzer noise. I presume you are referring to the same buzzer noise when its low on oil?

Mark - I use the same Renegade prop in both situations and have plenty of torque / speed for my applications. With a normal and less than normal fishing load, the boat jumps onto plane. What I mean is that right before it levels out, the boat actually feels like it has a surge and levels itself, I hope that makes sense. Are you suggesting the prop application is shutting the motor down due to the heavier weight application?

    The feedback is appreciated

No, I was just asking what pitch you are running while pulling the tube. If the motor is constantly over working it is not good. You might want to consider a lower pitch 4 blade prop for playing. This of course may have nothing to do with your problem and basically I was just curious what you have for a prop.

You have posted conflicting information, if the System Check lights do not cycle through each time you start the motor I would suggest you get it to your dealer.

    Re: 2001 Rude Problem (RUSTY63)

The system check lights does cycle through when everything is working fine. When the motor shuts down on its own while pulling a tube and I try to restart the motor, there is no consistency on the system check lights cycling through as I turn the key to start the motor. Sometimes the lights will cycle through and still not start. I just turn the key every once in awhile and wait till she decides to start up. Dealer says it could be an interment electrical problem. I guess if this becomes a major problem, then I'll take it in.

All the feedback and suggestions are appreciated
