hello,new to the board,great board,here is my problem,i just bought a 1996 stratos with a 115 fast strike,won't start, when i pump the bullb up, gas seems to be leaking around the carbs,if i keep useing the elect choke it tries to run,the boat has not been run since last sept when it was winterized and fogged,any help,thanks
Sounds like it wasn't winterized properly and the carbs are gummed-up. I assume from your post that it must indeed start because you say it tries to run if you keep choking it.
I think you better get it to a good Evinrude tech and have him clean the carbs and install new kits if necessary.
The fuel tank may also need to be drained and start again with fresh fuel.
All fuel lines from the tank to the carbs should also be checked for deterioration.
Pull out the plugs and heat them up with a propane torch in a vise to burn off the fuel. Let them cool and put them back in and try to restart it. Do this procedure, prime the bulb untill firm. Turn key to on and depress the key for 5 seconds release the key and try to start, it should bust right off. No the solenoid won't cause this. If you have a warm up lever on your control box raise it up. If you have a concealed mount Push in the lock out switch and advance the throttle and try it again. Welcome to the boards. P.S. make sure you have H20 running.
hello,i cleaned the carb's,fired right up and runs good,the only thing i noticed was around 2700 rpm it has a small fludder,how do you adjust the carbs seems like one might be out a little,thanks for your help
