omc system check tach

Do any of you Guys have the OMC System check tach? I need a new tach for the 98 Fast Strike 150 I just re-powered my rig with. Are they worth the extra money?

Yep I've got system check tach, but if you are short of space and $$$ just get the gauge with only the LEDs.

what is the advantage to the system. will it warn you of any problems well in advance of a major failure? I would think it works better than the idiot lights that some cars come with?

You don't need it if you don't want to spend the $$, it is a nicity and basically tells you what the alarms are that come on with the horn if you know the tones then you don't need it. Don't mean squat on a carbed motor.

If you have a 1996 or newer boat and you don't have a System Check guage or a horn driver the warning system will not work and motor damage will occur without warning the driver.
