Re: get a faster hole shot (tfoster721)

I have an early 721 with 250 merc, that came without the holeshot plate. I recently added the plate to my 10" atlas hyd unit. It did increase the holeshot noticeably. The holeshot with two people, livewells full, and tournament loaded, is like before with two people and livewells empty, and a light load. well worth adding.

Re: get a faster hole shot (nightbasser)

Hey Tim! Welcome to the BBC and the Phoenix board!!

My HS was good but is atleast 5 to 10% better now. When I am loaded and need to get on plane fast for fear of water hazzards, it is nice to have. The old addage "every little bit helps' holds true! I made one for my 618 out of 1/2 nylon but had to drill and tap into the bottom edge vertically on the JP. It was kind of a pain. IF you buy T&H plate, the bolts mount horizontally from the side so its much easier w/ only drilling clearance holes instead of tapped ones.

you have to remount it below the plate....i talked to the factory before i did it and they said it would not be a problem...just dont drill the holes to deep

    Re: (Redtom)

If anyone is looking for one, I have a holeshot plate fot the 8" Atlas for sale in the Swap/Sell Jackplates forum. New in box, never used. Not only do they assist with holeshot, but they do make an excellent place to mount the side/downscan transducers. The plate itself prevents scan beam kickback inside the jackplate frame that is common without this plate.

Here's some pics to get an idea on mounting your transducer. Hope this helps.
