Biggest GPS unit you can mount at the console of 1998 intimidator DC

Guys,

I have been in my garage all day trying to figure out what will fit at the console.....i have a Lowrance LCX 38c HD that is currently mounted on the floor to the right of my right leg.....I just can't get comfortable looking down and driving the boat at the same time. I can move the 38 HD up front and put a ducer on the trolling motor. Please guys, correct me if i am wrong, but I don't think anything bigger than an HDS 5 or 5 inch screen will fit using a RAM mount screwed into the glass to the right. I looked at it all day and on my boat that is about as big a unit as will work. HELP !!!!!

I reached the same conclusion as you did. Installed a 522c(what was available at the time). Still scratchin' my head n' other body parts trying to figure out how to get a bigger one in there even if it includes a complete re-do of the dash... Thought about mounting it above the dash and have custom windshields made to integrate it into the over all look but I fear it'd be higher than I'd like.... Still scratchin'.....

I had a LCX 28 that I tried everything I could think of on my 99 intimidator. I emailed Ram mounts to see about something. You can get it in there but you only have about an inch and a half or so from the streering wheel and that was just to tight and was against the windshield. I didn't like it on the floor and when it would not fit in the trolling motor pedal recess up front I did some trading and selling and bought a Humminbird 798c si and got a rail mount adapter from Ram and the Humminbird base plate and it fits in there great and can see all the gauges. You will be able to get about any brand 5" screen units in there. The people at Ram were great to deal with and when I explained what I was trying to do they give me there part numbers to buy what pieces I needed. Good luck.

Anyone thought of flush mounting a 5" unit where the flasher is? That is my plan unless someone here knows something I don't...

I mounted the 332 C on the chome bar using a gimbel mount that has 1 U shaped mounts. You will need to cut a small piece of pipe to go over bar to get the diameter correct tape chrome bar up so you do not scratch ... Then mount using this bracket see link.

You all so need standard RAM mont for unit..This will put the unit level with your eyes instead of trying to drive, read GPS and look at you feet..

I have the same boat 98 intimidator, and same finder 798csi.... Would love to see pics and part numbers if you have them. I don't have the electronics setup yet
