    Bravo 1 ??

After talking with a Rep at Merc. Racing, I was informed that for my boat, based on the holeshot problems im having, I need to be using a lab worked Bravo 1 with 1" PVS holes for ventilation. He told me the 27p would be the best pitch in the Bravo 1 series because i'd be turning the same RPM's at WOT that im currently getting with my 25p Tempest Plus. I may sacrifice 1-2mph in top end speed but im much more interested in the holeshot and handling to be honest with you. My next question is where can I find one to try out or to purchase if it happens to work? I have a 24p Fury that is brand new that I need to sell to help offset the costs since im sure its not a cheap prop. Does anyone have any suggestions? Im currently running 2+ inches below the pad on a 10" Hydro plate with a Brians Foil, stock 25p Tempest Plus and Brucato SVS, 225 EFI Merc 3.0L on a Dual Console "2000 DC" 1999 Intimidator 20'-6" with no trim tabs.

Re: Bravo 1 ?? (AZ Intimidator)

You need to get in contact with 21XDC (Mike).
He more than likely has good leads to get the prop you want.
Mike will also know exactly what will need to be done to the Bravo prop to work on your setup.

Re: Bravo 1 ?? (AZ Intimidator)

A bravo1 is not offered in a 27 or any odd pitchs. You would need to have one pitched up or down one inch. I suggest dual pvs holes instead of 1 inch holes as they will be adjustable to dial in your needs. A 27 bravo1 will not turn the same rpms as a 25 tempest. They run real close to pitch from my experiences.

Mark on the props page does an awesome job with a bravo1 on a gambler or any boat for that matter.... Look for a good used 26-28 and have Mark hook you up.

If you can, Buy this 26 new and have Mark do what you need.. http://www.getaprop.com/conten....html

Ive had the boat tested and the cylinders and the powerhead seem to be reading right where they should be. Ive replaced the spark plugs and fuel filters/water separators in the last 2 weeks with no difference. Im running primarily between 1850 and 2250 elevation...several different lakes I visit..all with the same result.

Re: Bravo 1 ?? (AZ Intimidator)

Mr Mike 21XDC advised me on the Bravo1 for my 2200 and I couldn't be happier with it. I bought a 26 from the same place he posted the link (getaprop.com), got it shipped to Croxton, he added dual PVS holes and repitched it to a 27. Once I figured out which plugs to use in which holes, I've got the best handling, best holeshot prop I've ever had. It will shoot out of the hole with livewells full, two big boys on board without using the tabs.

The Trophy Plus 27 I had before was the faster of the two props but even with losing a couple mph the Bravo1 is the better prop overall. I would suggest you do what I did and at least give it a try. If you dont like it you will be able to sell it fast and get all your money back.

With his elevation, He might be best keeping it a 26P. These props make your boat feel like it has 4WD.

Yep. 26P for that elevation. If RPM's are a bit high, Mark can add a little more cup to it to bring them down.

You'll love the Bravo on the Gambler. Best all around prop for the Gambler.

It's better to controll rpms with pitch than cup and push the boat faster if extra bow lift is not needed.

Bravo I for sure if you want the handling "KING". I am runnin a 28 but that is at 500 over sea level. I have the same boat you do except a 98 model with a 225. I love the Bravo. Great hole shot and handling.

    Re: Bravo 1 ?? (21XDC)

    Hey Mike,
I'm his cousin, and I'm designing a skid plate for his 6" Detwiler with 4" set back. One thing I hate about that particular hydraulic plate is the designer of the ram didn't really know much about boating. The ability of the rear plate to scoop water off the start like a big spoon is ridiculous. I really think once he puts on the plate I'm designing for him, almost all his problems on hole shot will be gone.

One more thing, I told him he should probably plug the top two holes on each side of his gear case (4 total). He's about 2 3/4" below pad with a 10" setback on an Intimidator 2000. Seems fairly deep. His gear case doesn't have the dual intake like the Torquemaster. I told him to wait for what you might say. I didn't know if two was the correct, three, or one. Can you let us know what is the best course of action? Thanks.

One more thing, his current best running position is just below where he loses water pressure, so there is a good chance that better performance is above where he's at currently.

I did not think that going higher than 3 in below the pad would benefit the intimidators set up.

    LD? What do you think?

without a low water pickup...you are probably at the limit on height...my guess is you might be losing water pressure in turns....i wouldnt raise it anymore without some mods on the water pick up...and i dont think blocking the top 2 will be enough...i have seen a couple of rigs with 12 back running 2 3/4...with a bobs pickup...

    Re: Bravo 1 ?? (ldbass55)

I run @ 1.5" below with bob's nose cone a 27" trempest @ 6500. I mounted my power jack where I could pull the motor up to even with the pad I don't loose speed til above 1.5" below pad a 26" tempest looses speed at 2.25" below pad. My top speed was 84.5 mph. I was getting some reliability problems with my mota in the lower RPM's because exaust porting was to large so Hydortec is building me another motor not quit as wild on the exaust proting so It will not run as good probly. It will have a better hole shot though. My boat handles great with the Bob's nose cone. I have herd that there was no reason to run my mota that high but I tested it with GPS and it dont lie. THese were all achieved with tourney loads.

I have run mine from 1" below to 3" below.. The RPM has changed but the MPH did not move much.. Biggest difference was the cruising RPM.. I went from 40mph at 4000rpm to 52mph at 4000rpm.. Running it up real high for top end really kills the cruise in the midrange if you have a fixed plate..

I noticed the same thing that is why I am glad to have the hydrolic jack plate. I think that I noticed the same differance.
