Fishfinder Location

Have a hard time looking down at my floor mounted unit, would like to move up somewhere more visable. Where do you all have your units mounted, was thinking of a Ram mount for the rail.........anyone have a pic of this kind of set-up.

It take a little bit of tig welding but it works great for running and the co-angler can see it really well, not that, thats important

I filled in the bottom opening. Removed my trim and jackplate guage from the dash and put it on that new panel.

Then, I mounted the GPS on the dash...very slick

And..well..."I" didnt do the work.
Lee, at Sanderson Marine in Chesterfield did it.

I bought a RAM mount and put it on the rail. It works great and doesn't interfere with the steering or my vision. It is lower than the windshield too. It's fully adjustable as well. Passenger has a view of it as well if he wants.

I won't be able to help you out with a pic. until Friday. I'm at work until then. They have a wide variety of the mounts and I got mine direct from RAM. I just made sure that I had the 1/2 inch rail mount.

Ok send me a pic when you can, I would like to see how high above or below the rail it goes.

Looks like it might be tight when steering.

The way I have it set as is...I've never hit the GPS. I could lower it even more and swing it in and out if I wanted to but I have not had any issue. You would be amazed at how different you could set it up and still have it function for you.

Re: Fishfinder Location (C@TCH)

I also wish to relocate my sonar GPS unit to a higher spot.
These boats are to fast and responsive to take your eyes off the water.
I did on Lake Michigan and in a split second I speared a wave.... in and out like a bullet .. OPPs I mean like an arrow.

I wish that Nils and Bob would consider redesigning the dash.
Many of the new boats have the GPS unit front and center up on the dash.. Ranger.. Bass Cat... and more.

They have always been leaders and innovative but in this ....
They need to update the dash.
The gauges could be relocated down the side where the sonar is now located.
I don't think it would have an adverse effect.
In fact it would probably look a lot hotter.
