    Gasoline Leak

Ran my 2200 across choppy water for about 15 miles Saturday. When we reached the destination I could smell gasoline. Shut her down and opened the back hatches and found gasoline everywhere in the back compartment. The vent hose pulled off the tank nozzle and allowed gasoline to splash out of the tank. The vent hose is cut 1.5" short. It has obviously been on the nozzles neck just enough to stay in place. I placed the hose back on the tank nozzle covering about 1/2" of the nozzle neck and clamped it. We left the back lids open and allowed evaporation to take care of the mess. I still can't believe it did not catch fire.

    Re: Gasoline Leak (MCarte)

While my shop was replacing a battery, they guy bumped the cap for the oil reservoir, broke off the plastic nipple on the reservoir-to-motor hose, and next time I ran it (fortunately- for a real short time) it pumped 2.5 gal of Merc oil into my bilge.

After draining it out (to waste! I resisted the urge to run it thru cheese cloth, figuring if I boogered up the engine trying to get cheap, it would cost even more), then I took a bunch of water and Dawn dishwashing soap to the bilge. I was amazed how well the Dawn cut the oil and oil smell out. m

I keep an open bar of Lava soap in my bilge area all the time. When I notice the soap is almost dissolved I add another bar. With the amount of water that tends to appear in the bilge area it helps keep that area clean and when you turn on your bilge pump it also cleans the pump.
