yeah i understand, i like the rude's, but the merc is a great motor too. we got the etec b/c we were curious, and are marina is a bunch of die hard evinrude boys, so far it has been a great motor, and we really like it. but we wouldnt think twice about getting either motor, they are both good.
I love my E-Tec,& it does a good job on my Gambler.I guide & it comes out of the hole much better then my former motor & this is with 3 people in it.I"am running a 28 Bravo 1,not set up for speed but it runs very good.I have about 220 hours on it with no problems.Inky
